InfantSEE Program:
Dr. Young and Dr. Dozon are proud to be among more than 7,000 doctors of optometry nationwide that are involved with the InfantSEE program. Under this program, supported by former President Jimmy Carter, participating doctors provide at no cost, a comprehensive eye assessment for infants between the ages of 6-12 months.
An InfantSEE assessment can detect the potential for vision and eye health problems which can be more easily corrected if treatment is started early. Typically, an infant will sit on his or her parent’s lap during the assessment. The doctor will use lights, and other hand held objects, like puppets, to check that the baby’s eyes are working together and to determine that there are no significant issues that will interfere with proper vision development. The doctor may use drops or spray to dilate the baby’s pupils to get a better look inside and ensure the health of the eye. Generally, infants find the assessment painless and often fun!
Babies’ eyes are their windows to the world around them. Just as cooing, sitting up and crawling are signs that your baby is growing and learning, your baby’s vision goes through many critical stages of development too. The signs of progress, however, are not as obvious and neither are potential eye and vision issues. Therefore, it is critical to have your infant assessed by an eye specialist.

OttLite Better Vision
Young Vision Care has become a Better Vision Partner with OttLite. When it comes to lighting, brighter isn't always better. Bright light sources reveal vibrant colors but also cause a harsh glare, causing the eye muscles to squint. Other light sources reveal high contrast so that edges of objects appear clear, but the drawback is distorted color. Also, the more intense the light, the more energy is used, generating more heat.
The Solution – OttLite 508 Technology. OttLite offers a unique solution to this problem. OttLite lighting is expertly engineered with 508 technology to bring the quality of High Definition Natural Lighting™ indoors, providing the ideal balance of brightness and contrast. The result is reduced glare, less eyestrain, and low heat.
OttLite lighting systems combine this cutting edge technology with features such as articulating shafts, adjustable shades and achromatic coating to supply illumination precisely where you need it.
