Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Scanning
Young Vision Care is one of the first offices in the Midwest to provide the latest imaging technology of the retina and optic nerve for their patients. Many different diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, can be followed more precisely with this device. Details of the optic nerve and nerve fibers involved with glaucoma, and changes in the macula involving macular degeneration or diabetes can now be observed objectively and in great detail.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) allows the retina, which is about one half of a millimeter thick or the thickness of a credit card, to be viewed at a micron level. A micron is 1/1000th of a millimeter The RTVue 100, at Young Vision Care, acquires 26,000 scans in one second and provides resolution of 5 microns.
If you or a family member has an eye disease, or if you have a family history of eye disease, you will receive the latest in diagnostic evaluation with the RTVue 100 at Young Vision Care.
Digital Imaging - Fundus Photography
Young Vision Care continues providing high quality eye care with our digital imaging system. These digital images (also known as fundus photos) are used to document the health of the eye’s optic nerve, vitreous, macula, retina and its blood vessels. This high resolution digital camera allows our Doctors to evaluate fundus photos of your eyes to diagnose and monitor conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
By capturing images over a period of the time and using software for comparative analysis, our Doctors can continue to provide first rate care.
Adding this state of the art technology at Young Vision Care not only enhances our ability to manage eye conditions, it allows us to help educate you, promoting a more proactive and health conscious approach to your eye care.
EYEMAGINATIONS
Young Vision Care utilizes a 3D-Animated software program, EYEMAGINATIONS, to further educate our patients on over 300 topics including LASIK, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. The latest information about new contact lens designs, new eyewear innovations and choices in intraocular lenses with cataract surgery is also available. This software program allows us to show you important detail about your specific eye concerns and possible solutions. This program is a powerful optical tool for our office and allows us to give enhanced personal information to each individual patient.
