A typical day…
1. Interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
2. Provide advice to patients on lens type, frames, and styling
3. Take frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning
4. Advise patients when adjustments or repairs to spectacles are needed
5. Select, manage, and order a range of optical products
6. Place orders for spectacle and contact lenses
7. Check spectacle and contacts lenses on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications
8. Arrange and maintain dispensary
9. Submitting claims for materials and exams through the Vision Service Plan website

A typical day…
- Greet & process patients arriving for appointments.
(i.e. paperwork, copies of insurance cards, update patient information) - Greet & assist patients coming in for non-appointments.
(i.e. dispensing eyewear, picking-up supplements or contact lenses) - Process patients as they complete their appointment.
(i.e. take payments, scheduling next appointment) - Answer phones when not interacting with patients
- Ensure patients begin their appointments in a timely manner
- Verify & screen next day appointments
- Verify insurance benefits
If you are…
- Experienced in medical care Required
- Skilled in general office communication (penmanship, phone calls, email) Required
- Experienced as a receptionist or insurance verification (3+ years) Required

Optometric Technician

A typical day…
- Perform and explain initial patient testing
(i.e. pigment density, peripheral vision, contrast sensitivity, color vision, visual acuities) - Program exam equipment with patient data
- Perform special diagnostic testing on patients and record results for review
(i.e. fundus photos, OCT, visual field) - Utilize Compulink HER software to manage patient health information
- Provide basic education about eye health, eyewear, & contacts to patients
- Verify & screen next day appointments
- Various office duties
